Learn to sew comfortable, breathable traditional Cherokee headwear with Seli Stewart!
Turbans, as Sequoyah wore, are practical and stylish. For this class, students will need to bring their own sewing machine, thread, bobbin and one yard of midweight or heavyweight cotton.
Classes fill up quickly and will be capped at 15 people, so be sure to reserve your spot today!
No reservations will be taken after 4:00 p.m. (CDT) the day before the class.
Cancellations must be given no later than 24 hours before the class.
Class to be held at the Cherokee National Prison Museum at 124 E. Choctaw St. in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

About the Instructor: Seli Stewart is a Cherokee Nation citizen and artist residing in Sallisaw, OK. She has been practicing beadwork since 2016 and became a TERO-certified artist in March 2022. Seli began learning beadwork as a type of self-care and is largely self-taught. In addition to beadwork, Seli also sews clothing, does some leatherwork, and makes cornhusk dolls. She enjoys helping others with questions they may have to get started on their own art journeys and using her art to showcase Cherokee culture, stories, and language.
